Our Story
Eric’s Version
Swipes Right. Like many first dates in this day and age, they begin with a mutual swipe in the same direction. For Linh and Eric, that was the case for them too. However, the moment that led up to the first date took time but stayed in touch.
After knowing of each other for about 6 months, Linh and Eric’s long-awaited first date was at Hello Marjorie to meet up for a drink in a nice atmosphere on April 13, 2022. Their first date lasted for about 2 hours, without skipping a beat in conversation. Let’s just say, the second date was set up shortly after.
After one thing led to the next since April of 2022, these two have spent their days adventuring, traveling, exploring cuisine, biking, and making memories along the way. Miles by plane to far away places to miles by bike across the state of Iowa from river to river. Their lives together have been full.
On December 30, 2023, Eric proposed to Linh in front of the 801 Grand building in Des Moines.
Throughout that year, Eric was traveling a lot for both work and personal, and missed being home with Linh. Every time he flew home, he’d see the building as the plane approached Des Moines from the horizon, and he knew he was home.
Linh, to Eric, is his home and told her that when he asked the big question. ♥
Linh’s Version
In April 2022, Eric finally asked Linh out on a date after weeks of texting each other. When she drove up to meet him at Hello Marjorie in Des Moines, he was waiting outside, quarters in hand to pay for her parking.
Two hours of wonderful conversation later, Linh set aside her rule of waiting a week between dates and asked Eric what he was doing that weekend.
Dates turned to spending days together, which turned to many adventures, camping trips, flights, bike rides, laughs and deep joy.
They imagined their lives intertwined — never without the other.
Eric’s thoughtfulness was constant, like the evening he made Linh homemade Texas Roadhouse (her favorite restaurant). His patience was unwavering (how else could he take those animal photos?) And he was the most genuinely good human being Linh had ever known.
So when he proposed at the 801 Building and lured Linh outside with the promise of a scary Santa (ask us later), she was overjoyed and of course, said yes! ♥
